Notice of the IPA2025

Dear colleagues,

The long-awaited 2025 International Photodynamic Association World Congress (IPA2025) will be held in Shanghai, China, from June 10 to 16, 2025. The International Photodynamic Association (IPA), recognized as the well-known academic organization in photodynamics worldwide, organizes a Biennial World Congress. This congress will assemble photodynamic experts and scholars from all over the world, providing an excellent opportunity for academic exchanges and broadening research horizons. IPA2025 is the 19th IPA World Congress. Over the past three decades, China has made remarkable strides in photodynamics, achieving breakthroughs in both basic research and clinical applications, and this conference aims to advance international exchanges and progress in photodynamic technology.

Professor Xiuli Wang has been appointed by IPA as Chair of IPA2025. She is one of the IPA Board Members, Director of the Dermatology Rehabilitation Committee of the Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine, and chief expert at the Photodynamic Research Center of the Chinese Society of Dermatology, Chinese Medical Association. With the theme "Integrating Photodynamic Basic Research and Clinical Applications for Human Health", the event is designed to facilitate interdisciplinary and cross-industry collaboration, fostering enhanced exchanges and interactions among diverse medical specialties. Furthermore, the conference seeks to nurture synergies between basic research and clinical implementations in photodynamics, catalyzing research innovation and translation in pivotal areas, notably novel photosensitizers and light sources. Ultimately, this gathering aims to expedite the global progression and adoption of photodynamic technologies.

This conference comprises over 20 specialized sessions, balancing fundamental research, clinical applications, and translational medicine. The sessions cover a wide range of topics including Dermatology, Gynecology, Respirology, Oral and Nasopharyngeal Diseases, Brain, Head & Neck Diseases, Gastroenterology, Urology, Immunology, Oncology, Photothermal Therapy, Antimicrobial PDT/Infectious Diseases, PDT Dosimetry and Interstitial Delivery, New PDT Activation Sources, Novel Photosensitizers and Nanotechnology, Photodynamic Priming and Targeting to Overcome Resistance, ROS and Explicit Dosimetry, as well as Global Health and Low-Cost PDT.

This conference presents a valuable opportunity to facilitate exchanges and mutual learning on advanced technologies worldwide.
